Hi Intern Game & Co. !
First of all, thank you for visiting my blog. You will find examples of some of my work below and little factoids about myself.
I am a Junior Advertising major focusing in Art Direction/Design at Minneapolis College of Art and Design. I work really hard and have great time management skills. This semester I’ve successfully balanced 18 credits, 2 jobs, and an internship at Minnehaha Academy. I love having a busy schedule. It motivates me to keep going. I work great under pressure and I don’t stop working until the deadline. I am sort of a jack of all trades. I can write, design, art direct, and currently I am dabbling into marketing and PR. I want to use my powers for good, always helping out something or someone in some way.
Why I would be a great intern: Well, all that I stated above… but also I put myself into my work and I care. I am polite, respectful, have great attention to detail, and I always keep the main idea in mind while creating. I make smart decisions and think through my process before acting.
I think I would be a great addition to the already talented creatives at Weber Shandwick. :)

Here is one of the concepts I thought of for 20 Acts In 60 Minutes. I love retro/vintage design. My biggest inspiration are old books and magazines.
Fun Fact About Kayla #6: I love the smell of old books, as weird as that may be.

Here is an in process logo/mark I am making for my GD class. The assignment is to take an animal or an object and create a mascot mark for MCAD. I chose a koala, mostly because they are cute.
Fun Fact About Kayla #5: I love animals, but I’m sure you already knew that.

This project was my favorite this year. I got to illustrate a cute dog.

Fun Fact About Kayla #4: I love dogs. No me gusta los gatos.

All the illustration in the borders are clues to what a person would experience when they go to This American Life: 20 Acts in 60 Minutes LIVE! This American Life is an awesome radio program that each week has a topic, but in this episode there is 20 ACTS! All super fun, all super awesome.

I am sort of obsessed with hair. When I was in High School, I was a part of that weird hairspray and comb-teasing phenomenon to get your hair as big as possible. I guess it didn’t help that I was raised in Dallas, TX. YEEHAW. This project embraced my obsession with big hair.
Fun Fact About Kayla #3: Just because I was raised in Texas doesn’t mean I have an accent. The only words I say ‘funny’ are pillow and tour.

Fun Fact About Kayla #2: I love my friends. Pictured here are High School Friends and College Friends. I have collected many pictures from City Pages at TML (Too Much Love is a DANCE PARTAYY Saturday Nights at First Ave). Once upon a time, 18 year old Kayla’s Saturday night goal was to have my TML picture on City Pages website.

Awww, The Disney Store. Magical, whimsical, dreamsicle, popsicle?

The Disney Store campaign was all about incorporating the image of Disney for all ages.

Fun Fact About Kayla #1: I love Disney. I love Disney songs, I love belting them at the top of my lungs in the shower. I’m sure my roommates just LOOOVE that.

This was my main internship project of Fall ‘10. I interned at Minnehaha Academy as their Marketing and Graphic Design intern. This catalog was for their summer programs. It had to be playful for the children but informative for the parents. I also got to illustrate fun graphics!

You are looking at how I spent my Summer of ‘10.
This was a 100+ pg catalog for Plays For Young Audiences, a licensing portion of Children’s Theatre Company and Seattle Children’s Theatre.
It was…
A LOT OF WORK.
I worked on it solo, but I loved every second of it. I had never taken on a project this big before. It was very successful and I am planning on working on the cover again this summer.
